		<description>What you are describing is exactly what RIM did with version 4 of the Blackberry Enterprise Server.  They made it easy to manage the configuration of the clients and all the setting changes made by the users were automatically backed up on the server.  Not exactly sure how that would work with a full blown desktop environment, but I have seen the benefits of such a situation.
