Preparing For A Short Break

Debbie and I are going away for a short break in Nottingham next week and tomorrow I'm cycling the Preston Guild Wheel, so today has been my opportunity to tidy up a few nagging tasks. I finally got around to changing the template that I use for my blog, I did some cleaning and finished setting up what's now the family spare laptop, it used to be Steph's.

I also made a concerted effort to break the back of my ridiculously long Instapaper reading queue and with a bit of effort next week I should have it cleared. Once clear I'm planning to spend more time reading books and less reading web articles, I want to get off the treadmill.

I'm writing this post in Blogsy on my iPad again, just using the on screen keyboard. I watched some of the 'how do I' videos today and it's definitely an app nicely optimised for productivity. I'm also using Adobe's Mix app on the iPad to prepare my photos and that works really well.

Since I re-seeded the lawn yesterday it's alternated sunshine and showers, so the seeds should be getting a good start, but all the rain's meant I've done less than 10,000 steps for the first time in a few weeks, but I've been on my exercise bike instead, watching up on some excellent videos about the future of food. I've also been working hard on strengthening my Achilles' tendons, by doing lots of heel raises with slow controlled drops, apparently it's the slow drop that does the job.

Finally we had a big family dinner tonight that was great fun, lots of laughter really makes the food go down well, the huge box of vanilla slices that Thom's Dad bough at a discount and then failed to sell will go down in memory!
