Birthday

I will make this short as I have only a few minutes left of my birthday to write about it.  I had a terrible night, suffering from the worst restless leg in memory, I finally managed to get to sleep after trying everything, heat, cold, massage, hot bath, socks, no socks, exhaustion finally worked, at about 3:30 but I was up around 7:30 to head to Newark.  The drive was mostly excellent, the roads were clear, I stayed awake, I listened to The Blue Zones audio book, but it rained and rained, until about 10 minutes out from Newark the sun came out.  That sunshine meant that Mum and I managed an hours walk, before setting off home again, but Google predicted a long drive.  After a lot of tortured decision making, we finally followed the satnav’s advice and turned off the m62 to follow a windy detour that did successfully, eventually bring us back to the M62 one junction after it was closed due to a large sinkhole opening up.

We finally arrived home a little after 4pm and Debbie was working hard preparing a huge feast.  She’d really pulled out all the stops making favourite meals for all the girls while also putting on a big roast meal for the rest of us – it was amazing.  We had Thom, Anna, Tess, Lewis, Me, Deb, Jennie, Jon, Steph and my Mum.  After dinner we had cheese cake that I’d made and pineapple upside down cake that the twins had made, both were great, but I had the cake – yum!  Jennie and Jon finally got to finish telling all the close family that they are having a baby and Nan was very happy for them!

Eventually after much washing up and cleaning we settled down to watch The Holiday, a film that all the girls, Debbie and Mum all seemed to love, apart from Steph who wasn’t keen.  So Steph begged her leave and Skyped with Graham while we all snuggled up for a treat.  I enjoyed it too, but it was no Love Actually.

Finally as I write this everyone but me is in their bedrooms, I’m hoping to get my restless leg under control before making an attempt at sleep.  It really has been a superb birthday and Christmas!
