Allotment Anniversary

It was only one year ago today that I planted my first seeds in the allotment beds and I cropped my first salad leaves about a month later.  This year I’ve improved those times considerably, in fact I’ve been eating almost all of my veg from the allotment (or bartered) since about June last year, only switching to shop bought veg during January.  So this year I’ve been 100% self sufficient in salads and other leafy greens since February and we have a considerable surplus now which allows us to feed the neighbours and other allotmenteers.

I’ve made a short video to celebrate this anniversary and to provide a nice reference point for subsequent years.

Happy gardening anniversary! It looks like you’re getting lots of wonderful salad greens from your cold frames.

Would you share plans om building a rowcover/mesh for a strawberry bed?

  3. Hi Shannon, these videosshow how I made all of the frames on my plot. For strawberries you would substitute the scaffold netting that I used for bird net, that has holes too small for birds but big enough for bees. Hope that helps. Steve
