Arnside And Silverdale With Vince
One of the best ways that I’ve found to stay in touch with my friends is to go out walking and cycling with them, but that’s not always possible, the best compromise is to skip the exercise and just meet them for breakfast or lunch and that’s what I did today. I met Vince at the Bakehouse cafe which has superb views out over the Arn. We spent an hour chatting over breakfast and then he headed back to work and I went for a walk. The walk is one of my favourites, being very varied, fairly challenging, incredibly scenic and well served with cafes and shops.
My day started at Caffe Nero in Lytham where I stayed for 30 minutes while I woke up and then I had a very smooth drive to Arnside. Vince arrived at the same time as me and we had an excellent chat, he’s back at work now and we talked a little about his experiences, but mostly we talked about lifestyle, cycling, the English language, philosophy and pets! I then walked around the headland to Silverdale, popped into the village centre and bought some freshly baked bread, cheese spread, milk and a chocolate egg for lunch, there’s also a toilet there. I then went down to the beach for lunch and sat in front of the cottages in the sun admiring the view and getting cold. After lunch I was so cold I climbed up to the cave, which was sheltered and in full sun and spent 15 minutes there warming up nicely before walking back to Arnside over the Knott. As I walked back through Arnside village I came across an honesty box and selection of jams and sweets made from back yard honey, I picked up some fudge which was delicious.
I then had a lovely smooth drive home, prepared the dough for Pizza and had a nap, after waking up I did the washing, did a bit of reading, made the Pizza, and did the washing up. Debbie, Anna, Jennie and I then had dinner, Anna was a bit dopey having spent the day working with a glue gun, Tess was still in Edinburgh.
Tomorrow I’m going cycling and walking with Simon from Cleveleys to Fleetwood/Freeport, so I’ve popped the bike rack and bike on the car and locked them up all ready to go tomorrow, hopefully meaning I will get a bit of a lie in!
