Allotment Diary–Wednesday 31 August 2016

Debbie finished topping the autumn hot bed yesterday, so that’s the October, November and December and hopefully January salad veg sorted.

I popped down tonight to apply the slug nematodes to most of the beds, I didn’t bother with the brassica and asparagus beds as they look pretty slug resilient and I will be treating them in early spring.  I’m not planning to treat them in the summer next year, I think two treatments in the spring and one in the autumn should be enough to keep slugs under control.

I picked some carrots from my tubs as well, but they are rubbish, my one real failure this year, the ones that I grew in the ground have been great though, so that’s what I will be doing next year!
