First day in the garden
There have been a few days when I’ve come close, but today is officially the first gardening day of the year and what a joy it’s been. Truth be told I’d forgotten what a simple pleasure it is to take a rather ragged garden and start to smarten it up. Cutting the lawn, edging, painting furniture, fixing the greenhouse and cold frames – just great.
I still have bucket loads of glass to clear up from the storm damage to the greenhouse, but I can’t bring myself to do it all in one day. The glass is all over the whole of the back of the garden, in every nook and cranny of the Strawberry and Raspberry beds, its going to be back breaking work to clear up (unfortunately the vacuum cleaner idea didn’t work). At least the green house is glazed again though. I even got to sit out and read for 30 minutes before I lost the sun.
The morning was good too, as usual I went to Caffe Nero at 8:30, but I was a few minutes late and so missed getting the window seat. I took my laptop and did my planning for the next week, and cleared all my work admin. I also setup a Facebook account for posts to this blog which you can find at facebook.com/SteveIsWriting and another for my reading which you can find at facebook.com/SteveIsReading. I set these up because I don’t like have different types of content all mixed up. That leaves my facebook.com/steve.richards1 is reserved for diary entries.
Then I went to the Deckhouse cafe for lunch and spent a few hours exploring the beach, dunes and park playing with Anna’s fancy camera which was great fun.
