Raised Beds
I’ve been working really hard today, but if there’s two things that I understand it’s the need to pace myself AND the need to break the back of a job. I did both of these today. I switched the alarm off to make sure I got the maximum rest, took a relaxing walk to the Beach Terrace Cafe for breakfast, walked back into town and then home. While in town I was trying to track down some dried beans that I would be able to soak and cook myself, I was after organic and I thought Holland and Barrett were sure to have them but I was out of luck, staple wholefoods don’t seem to be that important to them anymore. Sainsbury’s also was a washout for dried beans, but I discovered that they have an excellent range of pre-cooked organic beans so I stocked up on those, for my smoothies.
I arrived home raring to go and started my 30 minutes digging, 45 minutes relaxing, schedule which I kept up for the whole day. I knew I wouldn’t be finished until I had all the raised beds in place and the ground cleared, leaving only a little tidying up for tomorrow. I finished at about 5pm and I was very pleased with the results. I even had enough energy to do most of the sweeping and other tidy up jobs, so I should be all done tomorrow for sure! My relaxation came in the form of Stargate Universe episodes, perfect.
Throughout the day I’ve been listening to Rich Roll podcasts and they’ve kept me going with a nice mix of inspiration and entertainment. Rich is a huge advocate of the plant based diet, so it was fitting that my last job of the day was to make up three fantastic smoothies for tomorrow. The most inspiring interview was with James Lawrence, The Iron Cowboy, who was planning to complete 50 full distance triathlons in 50 days, across 50 states – and he did it!
I should have weaned off all my meds, if things go well this week, so I need to keep distracted and busy and tired!
